About 70 players preferred to play in this tournament.
Referees: Iulian Toma, Cătălin Albu and Liliana Iacob.
The first day was easy, the players were divided in groups of six and they competed for the first three qualifying places.
The first thirty two players were seeded in a knock-out tournament.
In the end Arnaud Knippel (3 k) played against Michael Staub (2 D) to win this first event.
Also playing in semifinals were Dumitru Alexandru (9 k) from Brăila - Romania and Diță Anca (16 k) from Bucharest - Romania, finishing on the 3rd place together.
